The department is established in 1991. It is one of the leading department dedicated to teaching and Research. The department runs F. Y., S. Y. and T. Y. B. Sc. Botany with six units. Programme provides basic knowledge of the living world, plant diversity and evolutionary trends of flowering and non-flowering plants, cell biology, genetics, plant physiology, and plant ecology during the first three years. This department is actively imparting the knowledge of subject to the needy students and awareness among them about environment related issues. Department also runs skill based B. Voc. courses like Sustainable Agriculture and Food Processing as well as short term courses of Seed Technology and Food Science and Quality Control.
There are Three teaching faculties followed by two administrative staff. The faculty member of department actively participated in conference, workshop & seminars regularly held by different colleges of different University.
Faculty also engaged in research activity. Department organized two days National Conference on “Role of non agricultural institutions in improvement agricultural technology” on 22-23 th January, 2011 Sponsored by U.G.C. (WRO), Pune.
Department has well equipped instruments computer and internet facility for conducting practicals. Department has well established Botanical Garden having plants of syllabus oriented of Botanical interest.
